Pacific Paint (BOYSEN®) Philippines, Inc. and its main contract manufacturer Atlantic Coatings Inc. became the first Filipino paint company to be awarded the use of the Responsible Care logo during the last annual convention of the Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimika (SPIK), also known as the Chemical Industries association of the Philippines.
Responsible Care is the chemical industry’s global voluntary initiative under which companies, through their national associations, work together to continuously improve their health, safety, and environmental performance, and communicate with stakeholders about their products and processes in the manufacture and supply of safe and affordable goods that bring real benefits to society.
At the World Summit on Sustainable Development held in Johannesburg in August 2002, Responsible Care has been commended, by the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), for being a significant contribution to Sustainable Development by the Chemical Industry .
Merck Inc., MCCI Corp., and Polymer Chemical Inc., which is also part of the BOYSEN® Group of Companies, were also awarded the use of Responsible Care logo by SPIK during the convention.
BOYSEN®’s main toll manufacturing plant, Atlantic Coatings Inc., is ISO 14001 certiifed, signifying that it meets international standards in environmental management. It was the first paint manufacturing facility in the Philippines to implement a Zero Generated Waste Water Program, and also the first to have a completely closed production system to minimize the spread of dust.
